With the holidays fast approaching I thought I would share with you some of the time and money saving tips we have learned while here in Togo. Some tips will be useful to you in the kitchen, some will save time and/or money around the holidays and most will not be useful to you at all. Shall we get started?
.
1. To save time in the kitchen just let your husband eat pie right out of the pie dish instead of actually putting his piece of pie on a plate. (NOTE: if you do not already have a husband it will not save you any time in the kitchen to go out and get one just so he can eat the pie right out of the dish. Obtaining a husband may, in fact, cause you more work.)
.
2. If you want a snake skin handbag for Christmas don't just go out and buy one! Have your husband skin a snake and make it for you himself!
.
3. Show up at other people's homes right around supper time. When it works, this tip will save you time and money! (NOTE: This usually only works if you go to the homes of people you already know.)
.
4. Tip from Kevin: To save time and money only wear deodorant half of the time. (NOTE: This tip also applies to toothpaste.)
.
5. Use Ziploc bags over and over and over again.
.
6. Use long blades of elephant grass as ribbons on your Christmas gifts this year.
.
7. Hide your money from yourself in hard to remember places. This way when you find it, you will be thrilled. (NOTE: this tip doesn't actually save any time or money - so while is not my best tip it will make many of you very happy.)
.
8. Don't actually buy gifts for people. Take them outside on a clear night, point to the brightest star you can see (be sure you are not pointing to the moon) and tell them that in your heart, you have named that very star after them as a gift. (NOTE: Kevin, this will not, however, work for me on my birthday or at Christmas.)
.
Well, I sure hope I have been a help to some of you.
